Schneider's Gemüseland

For generations, Schneider’s Gemüseland has represented quality, regionality, and sustainable food production in the Marchfeld region. To meet the growing demand for deep-freeze logistics, the family-owned company turned to state-of-the-art intralogistics solutions from LTW. Together, they constructed a new, fully automated high-bay warehouse, comprehensively modernized existing facilities, and seamlessly integrated all areas into a unified system. The result is maximum flexibility, stable processes, and future-proof warehouse logistics, all of which were achieved during ongoing operations at temperatures as low as -25 °C.

"With LTW, we have had a partner for over 20 years who understands our processes and always finds a solution, even when things get particularly challenging during ongoing operations."

Josef Schneider, Managing Director, Schneider’s Gemüseland

For decades, Schneider’s Gemüseland has operated several high-bay warehouses for fresh and frozen vegetables. Increasing demand, as well as the need to efficiently connect production, storage, and shipping, made comprehensive modernization of intralogistics necessary. The goal was to fully automate the connection between all warehouse areas and production to ensure future-proof processes.

Implementation had to take place during ongoing operations, with production and storage never coming to a standstill. Modernizing existing facilities and integrating a new high-bay warehouse with 27,600 pallet positions while connecting all areas via a common conveyor system placed the highest demands on planning, technology, and teamwork. Additionally, the entire system had to be optimized for reliable operation at -25 °C.

The project was executed in three precisely coordinated phases. First, the new high-bay warehouse 3 was constructed and commissioned. It features state-of-the-art conveyor technology and intelligent software control. Second, the existing high-bay warehouse 1 was retrofitted with the latest control systems and interfaces. Finally, all three warehouses, production, and shipping were fully automated and interconnected via a common conveyor system. The LTW Mobile Operator, a digital innovation, was introduced to provide operating personnel with real-time monitoring and control of the entire facility. The result is a seamlessly automated system that ensures maximum efficiency, flexibility, and process reliability in food logistics.
